Kaniz Mahdi

Kaniz Mahdi is a Vice President of Advanced Technologies at VMWare, where she is leading a team of architects and scientists for the discovery, creation, and verification of non-traditional architecture approaches.

Prior to VMware, Kaniz served as Head of Architecture at Ericsson and a VP of Advanced Architectures at Ciena, where she focused on 5G and AI research ecosystems leading into 6G. She is an inventor of essential technologies underpinning current Voice over LTE systems and has been instrumental in shaping the 5G era landscape.

Kaniz serves on the board of 5G Americas and Linux Foundation Networking and has previously served on the ONF boards for ONOS and CORD initiatives. Kaniz holds an MS in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas.
